Welcome to our latest Design Insights interview! For this special #LoveToGive edition, we welcome the talented communication student, Ineke Tack from Hush E. With a love of typography, graphic design, and interior design styling, we couldn’t wait to get discussing!
Do you have a favourite festive recipe for the holidays?
Can it be a dessert? My mom makes this every time something festive happens, and it’s my absolute favourite: chocolate mousse with raspberry cream and passion fruit sauce. So good!
What are your top tips for creating a stylish yet festive home?
During the holidays, I like to create a very cosy vibe, but at the same time, I need my interior to remain airy and bright. I accomplish this by using sheepskins, scented candles and lots of lights, but also by showcasing lots of plants, winter bouquets and little branches of eucalyptus here and there. Decoration wise, I tend to go for wooden objects and neutral tones. That way, your decorations will most likely blend in with the rest of your interior.
Do you have any festive DIY decoration ideas to share?
I have loads! Eucalyptus wreaths, eucalyptus garlands, flower wall hangings, etc. make for great statement decorations that will no doubt leave your guests astonished. If you want to spice up your dinner table, you can go with paint splattered placemats, small flower arrangements or name cards adorned with branches from your Christmas tree. And then, of course, there’s the gift-wrapping part. I like to use plain coloured packing paper or brown bags. I then decorate these with washi tape, a couple of branches or some fancy hand lettering to make it truly personal.
What’s your ultimate tip for hosting and entertaining in the holidays?
Decorating the venue is my favourite part, so I put a lot of time and effort into my table setting. Self-made name cards and menus are always a winner, just like beautifully styled plates. Furthermore, I’m a firm believer of self-service at large events. Don’t feel bad about sitting down as a host. I’m sure your guests would much rather spend time with you and won’t mind helping themselves to some more potatoes. After dinner, round up your guests for a personalised game and end the evening with some sparkling candles!
And we had to ask…What is your favourite Brabantia product to give (and make someone happy)?
Is it weird to gift a waste bin? Surely not. I’m loving the Pedal Bin Retro in mineral pink.
