Tree nursery launched with #LoveNature funding

Fantastic news to share! We are excited to report the launch of a new WeForest tree nursery in Amhara, Ethiopia that has been funded by our #LoveNature campaign. Even better news is that you still have the opportunity to add to this campaign! We are continuing to donate a tree for every rotary dryer purchased. Rotary-Dryer-Love-Nature

The Amhara region is bearing the brunt of Ethiopia’s deforestation, where an estimated 140,000 ha per year is cleared. However, we are working with WeForest to reverse this trend. Our tree nursery is expected to produce an impressive 300,000 seedlings every year. This will help bring back functional forests to the region and combat global climate change. Our #LoveNature tree nursery is a vital step towards making the earth cooler.

Wait… this project is even more inspiring! Our tree nursery will be helping boost quality of life for local residents. Our site will be run by 9 permanent workers from local communities. Furthermore, between January and March we will be requiring an additional 15-20 workers to cope with the higher workload.

Our tree nursery was previously owned and abandoned by the Ethiopian government until earlier this year. Since then WeForest and The Hunger Project have managed the process of getting it back up and running. To keep up to date on progress watch this space!
