We’re always keen to gain more nature inspiration! This week, we’re super-excited to welcome Dutch interior blogger and fellow nature-lover, Yvette van Kooy from SOYZ. Her blog is all about chic styles and bringing the outside, in! Let’s gain an insight into her world…
How do you show your love of nature?
We separate our waste, buy biological meat, if possible we travel by bike instead of car, and since last month we have solar panels on our roof!
Have you heard, we are launching a ’30 Day Drying Challenge’ called #LoveNature Pledge! Simply turn off the tumble dryer and go greener with air dried laundry using a rotary dryer or drying rack! Will you make a pledge to join us please?
Yes I have and I did!
Every time you dry your laundry naturally you help to make a lasting difference. Do you have a top laundry tip to share?
I love to dry my laundry outside. The fresh smell of outside dried textiles is unbeatable! On sunny days I use a parasol standard to put my rotary dryer in, so I can place it wherever I want and the children can still play outside. For my black wash I prefer a spot in the shadow, for white sheets on the other hand I love the sunniest spot, it makes whites whiter!
When we style our homes it’s fun and relaxing to bring in a bit of nature too, what top styling tips do you recommend for bringing green in the home?
Our home is like a canvas, which we fill in with colour, furniture and accessories. We have a lot of wooden items and a collection of nature (and thrifted) finds. Flower-prints on pillowcases and tableware mix perfect with real plants and weekly fresh flowers, and all together it connects inside with outside!
Have you worked with Pantone’s Spring 2016 ‘Green Flash’ hue yet? Representative of nature’s persistent influence in urban environments, is it a hit or miss for you?
We have lots of greens in our home. In this flashy green I have laundry baskets and chairs from when the children where younger. It also is an accent colour in the boys rooms. For me green is always a go.
What project are you super-excited about working on this year?
I love to style and play with greens and flowers for the monthly Urban Jungle Bloggers topics. It’s a regular item on my blog since I started joining them and I’m really looking forward to the first book Judith and Igor are working on. Furthermore, I am fond of Instagram. I love to show my creative work, but it’s also a spot where my (faded) flowers get a second life! And I joined the photo-challenge from Fatmumslim a few years now. For me it’s a daily moment of instant happiness, like the smell of fresh sheets can bring in a second.
And finally, have you seen our latest Spring Summer Collection? It’s simply bursting with nature-inspired must-have products! What item is on your must-have wish list?
That must be the Sort and Go Waste Separation Boxes. I can imagine not only to using them for the waste but the small ones look like pretty storing boxes too!
