It’s time for another burst of interior inspiration! This week, we’re super-pleased to welcome ultra-talented interior design guru and deco blogger Martyn from Martyn White Designs to our Design Insights Interview!
An avid lover of all things luxury, Martyn’s blog is a platform for creativity and passion in interior design, photography and art. Let’s gain an insight into his world…
What’s going to be hot in interiors in 2016?
We are seeing patterns, detailing and much more colour returning this year. Last year had a very clean, clear and Scandinavian quality about it, people are building on this, keeping the focus on quality materials but we are seeing the addition of multiple prints through accessories, brighter colours and generally people experimenting outside of their comfort zones which is very refreshing to see!
Rose Quartz and Serenity, Pantone’s Colours of the Year – a Hit or Miss?
It is great to see two Pantone colours of the year! A beautiful combination that is creating fantastic looking products all around. Personally, I think they look great on products but maybe not as a theme for a whole room.
What are your ambitions for 2016… in 5 words or less!
International design discoveries!
How would you describe your style, in just 3 words
Contemporary traditional twist.
Who is your ‘Go To’ design crush?
Anyone close to me knows that I have an unhealthy obsession with Tom Dixon! (Us too! Check out his designs here…)
What are your top 3 favourite interior spaces?
Top interior spaces in the home are definitely the dining room, bathroom and living room. My favourite interior design spaces around the world are 1508 Project Pearl, Andre Fu’s Yu Yuan restaurant, Studio Mode’s Park Loft – all recently featured on my blog!
Reflecting back on 2015 what was your defining interiors moment?
I had the incredible opportunity of styling an interior space for Christie’s auction house. Working with so many stunning antiques in a small space was very challenging but so exciting.
Your favourite colour from our Tasty Tools collection?
Mint! You just cannot go wrong with mint. If I were to close my eyes and someone said “kitchen” mint instantly comes to mind.
