This week, we’re truly excited to welcome ultra-inspirational green-inspired interior, lifestyle and fashion blogger Laura de Jong from Laura en James to our Design Insights Interview! With a deep passion for a greener world and nature-inspired interiors, we can’t wait to gain an insight into her world…
What’s going to be hot in interiors in 2016?
Already going on in 2015 but here to stay is embracing green in interiors, literally with all sorts of plants in every room of the home. This trend is supported by initiatives like Urban Jungle Bloggers with botanical wallpapers and natural materials suiting the theme really well.
There is also a more abstract translation, where people try to live as green as possible by building self-sustaining homes with solar panels on the roof and showering with rainwater. You can find these buildings in ‘real’ nature, but also in the city where the owners create a green oasis in contrast to the concrete jungle. Even in the city you can eat home-grown veggies and take care of the environment.
Rose Quartz and Serenity, Pantone’s Colours of the Year – a Hit or Miss?
I’m not a big fan of the colours but they do suit the spirit of the times. The colours are about mindfulness and try to be an antidote to modern day stress. I guess plants do the same!
What are your ambitions for 2016…in 5 words or less!
Inspire consumers with green options.
Who is your ‘Go To’ design crush?
I don’t really have one crush… I get inspired by everyone who makes conscious choices with an elegant outcome. From designers who come up with revolutionary sustainable solutions to consumers who manage to decorate a stylish home with only second-hand pieces.
How would you describe your style, in just 3 words!
Conscious, natural and feminine.
Reflecting back on 2015 what was your defining interiors moment?
Launching the vtwonen blogazine, a collaboration between Dutch interior magazine vtwonen and 25 leading interior and design bloggers. Very proud to be part of this inspiring team!
