Design Insights Interview: With the ultra-talented Interior Stylist Lucy Gough! #LoveToGive Edition

Lucy GoughTime for another Design Insights Interview – #LoveToGive edition! This week, we’ve chatted to Lucy Gough, an ultra-talented Interior Stylist and Blogger!  She’s an award-winning star, gaining the title of Best Interior Designer Blog at the Amara Blog Awards 2015, which we were proud sponsors of this year – let’s gain an insight into her fabulous world:

What are your top tips for easily adding a dash of festive fun to your home? Fairy lights and more fairy lights! I have them everywhere throughout the whole festive season (and often longer…) I also love making a big table centrepiece using slices of tree stumps (you can buy them from the flower market). Layer them up with pine cones and Xmas greenery like moss and holly and you have a beautiful central focus for your dining table.

A favourite festive spot in your home (i.e. chair by wood burner / kitchen table with friends etc)? Definitely in front of our open fire. We spend most of our time there during the winter. The room is so small it’s like a snug!

What’s your must-have stocking filler from our Love to Give Collection? I particularly like the Minty Mint collection of items. The colour is gorgeous and will work in so many homes. However, the one item I will definitely be giving a few family members is the colourful corkscrew. Great for a stocking filler!

The best (most surprising!) festive dish you’ll be serving to friends and family this year? A profiterole tower with fairy lights woven through the stack!

What’s on your must-read festive reading list this year? I am about to start ‘The Girl on the train’ and catching up on the last few issues of Australian Vogue Living magazine – my favourite!

Quick-fire round:

Giving or receiving?  Giving for sure. I buy Xmas gifts for people all year round and keep them in my ‘gift cupboard’ until December!

Festive wrap or minimalist?  Minimalist. I like brown paper and string.

Tinsel or handmade? Tinsel. I wish I had time for handmade but I usually don’t!

Mulled wine or Prosecco? Prosecco all the way – no matter what the time of year!

Thanks so much to Lucy Gough for her super-stylish festive insights! For more of her interior inspiration, give her a follow on Twitter, and, of course, Instagram!
