Our #LoveColour campaign is in full swing, and for the second colour-loving edition of our Design Insights Interview we’ve chatted with super-stylish freelance interior journalist Laetitia Renevier from ultra-cool French interior and lifestyle blog Billie Blanket. Let’s find out all about her colour style:
As a dedicated colour lover, which hue do you feel represents your super-cool style? My tastes in colour change and depend on their support. I like a very pale pink on a wall but not on an armchair. However, a beautiful mustard yellow sofa seduces me more than a yellow wall!
Are you a fan of dreamy pastel hues or a lover of all things bright and bold? Right now it’s true that pastels give the eye a soft, soothing, feminine view, but I also like the bold colours that often have more character.
Which eye-catching colour combinations would you pick to restyle an interior this season? I rather like bottle green – a colour that blends well with just mustard yellow or, in a different style, with pastel pink.
What are your must-know top tips for easily adding a dash of colour to the home? At home there is colour everywhere. A wall of colour, even if it has been used lots, is always a safe bet. What also works are geometric shapes, a bit like shadows, painted on the walls. It’s graphic and it really dresses up space.
We’re all about hot future colour trends! Can you predict 2016’s colour of the year? I think that the green bottle shade is fast approaching for dark colours, while mustard and pale pink will continue to let the light in.
Classic monochrome or bright colours? Bright colours
Pretty patterns or minimalist design? Pretty patterns
Cool geometric or eye-catching florals? Cool geometrics
Funky textures or smooth and soft? Smooth and soft!
