This week’s edition of our fab Design Insights Interviews has arrived! We’re very excited to welcome UK Interiors PR and top Blogger Rachael Jones from Interior Thinking, a blog dedicated to all things interiors, home décor and lifestyle. Let’s discover more about her world:
Firstly, congratulations on being nominated for an Amara Interior Blog award! What inspired you to create an interior and lifestyle blog and how did you get started?
I started my blog while at University as a way to share my love of design, and to gain some writing experience besides essays.
How would you describe your interior style?
Pretty eclectic, modern and relaxed – I like interiors that looked lived in.
Where do you seek style inspiration?
Mainly interiors magazines – although blogs and Pinterest are great sources of inspiration, you can’t beat a beautifully styled shoot.
Of all the rooms in your home, which is your favourite and why?
As I currently live in a flat with three other people, my bedroom is probably my favourite room as it’s the only one I have complete control over!
Which aspect of your interior do you feel is vital in making your house feel like a home?
Definitely textiles – as soon as you layer different textiles and textures in a room it starts to feel homely. Good lighting is also key – I really don’t like overhead lights as they often make a place feel clinical and cold.
What’s your current colour palette obsession?
Right now I’m really loving Scandinavian inspired colour palettes, with lots of navy blue, white and pale grey and a touch of gold to warm it up.
Can you believe it’s only a couple of months until the festive season, when creating a chic & stylish holiday decor, where do you start?
Lights, as they make a scheme feel instantly festive. Also candles and scents, as they make a space feel complete.
Which seasonal colours will you be embracing this festive season and why?
I like traditional and warm colours for the festive season, so forest green and warm red.
What interior trends do you think will be big in 2015?
I think natural, raw materials such as wood will continue to be big in 2015, as people are really starting to appreciate simple materials and good quality design.
And lastly… (cheeky we know!) what’s your favourite Brabantia product and why?
I love the FlatBack+ bins – the colours are amazing.
