We can’t believe another year has gone by, but here we are again at the MAD (Mum and Dad) Blog Awards, the annual event which showcases the most popular parenting blogs in the UK.
This year we’re live blogging and tweeting from the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington, one of London’s great venues. As we sip our aperitifs and prepare to experience a delicious three-course dinner, we can’t help but think it’s going to be a tough night!
The atmosphere is certainly electric as the 100+ mum and dad bloggers who have gathered here tonight to celebrate their successes, knowledge and parenting insights, prepare for the big event of the evening – the announcement of the winner of the Best MAD Food Blog category.
As proud sponsors of this award we are amazed yet again at the incredibly high standard of the entries. So before the winner is announced here’s a quick look at some of their favourite recipes they wanted to share with you:
Dan Toombs who publishes his fabulous curry recipes under the banner of The Curry Guy is the best selling author of How To Make British Indian Restaurant Style Meals. Unfortunately he’s not with us tonight but please check out this delicious sounding spicy sho-coo-tee coconut and chicken curry.
A Mummy Too has nominated her Tomato Asparagus Garlic and Spaghetti. Emily says: “This simple quick pasta recipe feeds 3-4 and uses that cupboard staple, dried spaghetti. It can easily be made into a vegan dish if like me you follow a dairy/egg/meat-free diet. If you’re not a veggie why not add chicken breast for extra protein.”
Angie from Cakes Photo Life wanted to share her special Tiffany’s inspired 18th Birthday cake that she made for her daughter. It’s a superb three layer chocolate and vanilla sponge and chocolate ganache. She said: “The cake’s secret was my daughter’s main present was hidden inside.”
Frugal Queen has presented us with what Jane herself describes as one of her most economical recipes to date. Certainly these Salmon Fishcakes and Sweet Chilli Sauce look delicious. She says: “You could make a veggie version with steam leeks and cheddar.”
Gourmet Mum nominated her Prawn Spaghetti in a Chilli, Tomato and Garlic sauce. Filipa describes it as a “restaurant dish that you can make at home for a ‘hot date’”. I’m not sure if she means the sauce or the date! Maybe both.
