Home cooks around the world are getting extremely eager with anticipation as Easter is just around the corner. With those extra days holiday, Easter is always a wonderful time to spend with the family and for home entertaining.
Here are some of our favourite ideas for delicious delights to rustle up in the kitchen to thrill your friends and loved ones.
Boiled eggs are traditionally eaten for breakfast on Easter Day. Why not serve them in our very funky egg cups in grey. They cleverly comprise both a silicone ring for the egg to sit in and a stainless steel dish in which to collect the shell.
Another lovely way to enjoy eggs for breakfast is in Eggy Bread, otherwise known as French Toast. You can either have it savoury, served simply with a little salt and pepper, or sweet – we like ours with cinnamon and syrup. How about you?
Lamb for lunch
Lamb has long been associated with the Easter festival and is also the main dish served at Jewish Passover. Of course roast lamb with rosemary is a fabulous combination but we also love Heston Blumenthal’s take on it which also features anchovies. Oh yum!
Lamb kebabs are tasty and also quick and easy to make – a real winner if you’re cooking with children. These beauties by Gordon Ramsay are very good, particularly with the minty yoghurt dressing.
Easter is the perfect excuse to whip up a bit of a baking frenzy in the kitchen but if you only bake one thing, you’ve got to bake the most traditional of all Easter cakes, the Simnel Cake. Packed full of spices, fruit and marzipan, it’s always a firm favourite with old and young alike.
And of course Hot Cross Buns are so popular this time of year. You can’t beat the homemade version, and they’re not as hard to bake as you might think.
Don’t worry if baking really isn’t your strong point though. These delightful Chocolate Nests filled with mini eggs are pure child’s play to make. So much so, you can stand back and let the kids get on with it themselves!
If you are partaking in a spot of baking this Easter, you might want to treat yourself to these stylish new Essential Kitchen Scales from Brabantia. Available in both Caribbean Blue and Lavender, they’ll not only guarantee your baking is more efficient, they’ll also provide a bit of a talking point for your guests too!
So those are our tips. What will you be cooking in your kitchen this Easter?
