This week we are privileged to have an exclusive interview with interior design blogger Igor Josifovic from ‘Happy Interior Blog’. Since October 2011 he’s been sharing everything that inspires him for a happy home on his blog and there’s some great advice and inspiration for us all! Here he speaks to Brabantialife and gives us his Design Insights:
1.What or who inspired you to become an interior design blogger?
I’ve loved everything for the home since my childhood. This interest grew into a passion and I’ve decided to share all my inspirations on my blog and help make homes a happier place.
2.What trends do you most enjoy working with?
When it comes to trends, I am not too obsessed. However, I love currently the urban mix of industrial and modern elements. I love the chalkboard and dip-dye trend.
3.What decorating techniques/ideas would you recommend to a homeowner who wants to update a room without spending a fortune?
I would recommend to start with the things you have at home. Sometimes you don’t need to buy new things or furniture or refurbish your entire home. In general, I think people should reconsider the things that surround them and make a smart ‘bin or keep’-list. Decluttering and rearranging makes homes look fresh and new.
4.What is your favourite design magazine?
5.How about your favourite website or blog?
6.Tell us about one of your favourite projects
As a blogger I must say that my favourite project is my blog www.happyinteriorblog.com and I am beyond happy to have found a design-savvy readership and an amazingly supportive network of design bloggers.
7.What’s your favourite colour combination?
Currently I am coveting a mix of saturated grey hues combined with soft yellows and dusky pink.
8.What’s something you should never skimp on when decorating your home?
A good sofa and bed. After all we spend lots of hours on either furniture and our bodies will thank us for good quality choices. The rest can be more reasonable and thus easily exchanged according to our current tastes or cravings.
9.Are there any insider interior design top tips we should know about for 2012?
I keep on seeing chalkboard and chalkboard paint everywhere, dip-dyed pieces and a comeback of green plants for the home. Make it cosy and urban – to me, this is a major trend in 2012.
10.And lastly…(cheeky I know!) what’s your favourite Brabantia product and why?
I love the simple and sleek crockery by Brabantia. It reminds me of sophisticated Japanese design that minimizes forms and emphasize functionality and thus reaching a new level of design.
