I was very lucky to be contacted by Brabantia Life the official blog of Brabantia the fabulous kitchen and homeware company recently and invited to test and review their products. Now, I love cooking and home gadgets and already have several Brabantia products in my home; their famous no touch bin is 10 years old for me this year and still going strong!
Looking through their product range I was interested to see that they had digressed into table linen and crockery; these are things I used to love buying before I had Roo but in recent years thanks to sticky fingers at the table my cloths have consisted of wipe clean plastic and cheap table linen that disintegrates in the wash or holds on to tomato ketchup with glee on each wash. As for crockery I would love some new serving dishes but in the financial scheme of things these go right to the bottom of the list.
So I was excited when my Brabantia box arrived and opened it to find a selection of their new Brabantia tableware. The box included one of their gorgeous new tablecloths, a table runner, a matching apron (super snazzy!), a stainless steel mixing bowl and a new oven roasting / serving dish. There was lots of shrieking and I loved the stylish timeless colours of the table linen in a deep mulberry, grey and white – perfect to match in my dining room. This is all part of the new Brabantia Get Together range and looking at the website I could bankrupt myself buying all the matching bits!
One of the things that struck me is how beautifully packaged all the products are. The boxes that many of the products come in are both sturdy and practical but they also look great. I love the extra details like the little felt shapes and ribbons that are tied to the labels. This is a really nice touch and to me it shows that buying a Brabantia Get Together product is just as much about the experience as it is about the functionality of the product. These would make amazing gifts for anyone who is looking to get into cooking or absolutely adores being a whizz in the kitchen.
The texture and quality of the table cloth was far superior to anything I had bought and I was impressed by 100% cotton fabric and the fact that it came with a two year guarantee. It was the weekend and with Roo home for dinner it was the perfect opportunity to try it out with fish fingers and red sauce for tea. Just like most meals there was a fair bit of food on the tablecloth come the end of dinner time including ketchup, Ribena, squashed peas and yoghurt. I was doing a quick wash and put the table cloth in on 30 degrees to see if it would get the stains out. I was pleasantly surprised even at the 30 degrees with no additional soaking or detergent agents that the stains came out and the table cloth was lovely to iron and was soon back on the table crisp and clean.
