This week we are super excited to welcome PopArtRockGirlYeah! (also know as P.A.R.G.Y) as our Guest Blogger. She’s a UK design blogger with a passion for bold patterns, idiosyncratic designs and colour, colour, colour! We invited her to sample our Colour Your Bin range and here are her thoughts:
“Brabantia recently asked me if I’d like to write a little something for their Brabantia Life blog. I jumped at the chance naturally, and I’ve even done a little photo shoot of my kitchen! I’ve used Brabantia bins for as long as I can remember. Of course they’re regarded as design classics these days and generally recognised as being a great combination of form and function. Well now you’ll be pleased to learn that you can order their “Colour your Bin” range in over 200 colours, including the rather fabby telemagenta pink one below! This happens to be my own bin in my somewhat bijoux, but very vibrant kitchen – the hub of my home. I enjoy nothing more than rustling up classic European cooking for friends and family, or baking pretty cupcakes just for the fun of it!
The colour scheme idea came about after I’d spotted a Zandra Rhodes interview in a Sunday supplement. Bright pink combines really well with deep vivid blues, a colour combination used quite commonly in India! The “Colour my Bin” range has such a wide variety of colours to choose from; enough to satisfy the colour needs of anyone in the spectrum – from lovers of classic taupe or cream, right through to those that have a hankering for bold brights (yes that would be me!) For any that might be a bit nervous about incorporating a lot of colour into their homes, the kitchen is the one place where you can really let go and get a bit crazy (just think of all those wonderful bright kitchens from the 1950′s). Accessories are of course an instant way to inject some colour into your kitchen, and can add some zing to even the most restrained palettes.
I love colour and I always surround myself with lots of it, but I do appreciate that not everyone feels comfortable with choosing hues for the home. So I have come up with a few personal favourite combinations which might help match your Brabantia bin to your respective colour scheme:
- Yellow and grey – fantastic combination and very on trend right now
- Cream and pale blue/ duck egg blue – clean, fresh and homely. A bit of a Cornish vibe
- White, red and blue, for a Mondrian style, 1980′s groove.
- Brown/ dark wood and orange. A lovely 1970′s autumnal feel.
- Pale green and coral. A fashionista’s firm favourite, whisking you away to the French Riviera”
