“Brabantia? They make bins don’t they? Well think again …”

Brabantia dining set “A couple of weeks ago the team at Brabantia Life asked me if I would review their latest products.  Having used one of their bins for many years I wondered what the latest development in waste bins could be?  Thankfully I was completely wrong and the people at Brabantia are now launching a range for casual dining called ‘Get Together’ and it is pretty fabulous!

al fresco dining As an interior designer and also a very keen cook the presentation of food is so important. There is no point specifying gorgeous furniture without carefully thinking about where it will go, the same is true with food and entertaining – the cutlery, plates, napkins and dishes etc you use all add to the pleasure.

The new Brabantia ‘Get Together’ range is their new collection for casual dining, launched with perfect timing as we start al fresco dining.  There are over 50 items to choose from – in three great colours – white, grey and purple.  As my home is currently carrying a grey twist, after reviewing the products, I will be rushing out to buy a few pieces in the grey and purple colourway.

The Party Plate featured in the main picture is perfect for serving appetisers before dinner.  The Brabantia version is much better than other ’chip and dip’ style servers that usually have space for lots of ‘chips’ but little else.  I used it to serve chorizo in red wine, artichokes and an olive selection – perfect for a summer evening.

Small oven dish My next trial was the small oven dish that I used to make a cottage pie. The small dish is a perfect size for two people and has a really nice finish, and the grey colour gives it a very contemporary feel. Perfect for serving straight to the table – better still it came out of the dishwasher spotless!

The products are also packaged beautifully making them ideal gifts for a foodie. The range includes egg cups, coasters, salt and peppers mills, candle holders, serving dishes, an apron … the list is endless – and the quality of every product feels good and well made.

The products are now on trial in Selfridges and will be launched formally next month.  I can thoroughly recommend them, both for their style and practicality – and am pretty sure they will be gracing my own dining table this summer.”
